Rebecca “Becky” Proler started Southern Core Recycling (SCR) in 1989 in Houston, with partners: Alan and Carol Walker. She currently runs SCR with Kari Coffey and Shari Conner, the Walkers' two daughters. After getting her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, she decided to follow in her family’s footsteps and started Southern Core Supply in 1989. Originally focused on automotive cores for the remanufacturing industry, SCR later became a full-service recycling company specializing in cast iron for the foundries along with an aluminum shredder that concentrates material for automotive and alloy aluminum mills.
